Darren Sylvia, Superintendent

It is with great excitement that I welcome you to the 2019-20 school year.  On behalf of the Chawanakee Family I can’t begin to thank you for the trust and support you provide our schools, staff, and community. Thank you ALL for allowing us to educate your children. We would like to also welcome our new students, parents, and staff members whom have joined the CUSD family.

The beginning of the school year is a wonderful time for those of us involved in education as it allows us to refocus on our goals, build new relationships and embark on new challenges.  Our District’s Mission/Vision is to create a laser like focus on engaging our students in rigorous, relevant learning through strong instructional practices and positive relationships. Our continuous improvement in the creation of a Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), Positive Behavior Intervention System (PBIS), and improvement of Instructional practices will be a key to our student’s success.  We all must have a growth mind set to create an attitude for change and improvement, while developing modeling resiliency

Chawanakee Unified has all of the ingredients representing what schools should and can be.  We have an exceptional professional staff, enthusiastic community, great facilities, and schools full of eager children ready and willing to learn.

I encourage you to become actively involved so we can continuously improve our schools and district to be the very best.  We look forward to an unbelievable school year that will be filled with exciting and new learnings, great memories, and new friendships for our students.
